The ministry of biblical counseling is a ministry of inspiring divine hope where sinful choices, life-altering traumas, and sexual and emotional betrayal have left ash heaps of spiritual, psychological, emotional, and relational devastation and carnage.
When Satan whispers, “There is no hope,” the God of All Hope answers, “I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate” (Ezekiel 36:36).
The God of All Hope rebuilds the wasteland of a life destroyed by rebellion, addiction, pornography, and sexual bondage. He rebuilds the wasteland of a marriage shattered by betrayal and deception. He rebuilds the wasteland of a life that has been traumatized by emotional, physical, sexual, and/or spiritual abuse. He rebuilds the wasteland of losses incurred by passive/negligent leadership, tragedy, and death.
The past does not have to define the future when we understand the pathway forward to rebuilding the waste places. God specializes in transforming ash piles into gold, silver, and precious stones!
Rebuilding the waste places is usually not the work of a day, or the path of least resistance. It is a process. A journey of faith. An exercise in humility and Spirit-dependence. A path often fraught with opposition and spiritual warfare. A sacred calling God assigns to humble servants who are willing to rise and build!
Like Ezra and Nehemiah of old, He wants to make you a Rebuilder. A Repairer of the Breach. A Restorer of Paths to dwell in” (Isaiah 58:12).
